Located in the constellation of Perseus, NGC 1579 is a diffuse nebula and active star formation region. Due to a similar appearance to Messier 20, the Trifid Nebula in Sagittarius, NGC 1579 is sometimes referred to as the “Northern Trifid”. The Nebula is much dimmer and much smaller in apparent magnitude and size though, as compared to the Trifid Nebula.
